How it works

Boost antithrombin → existing clotting cascade slows immediately. Prevents clot extension; doesn't dissolve what's there.

Monitor
  • Heparin drips: aPTT (or anti-Xa) per protocol, titrate exactly
  • Platelet trend — a falling count on heparin is HIT until proven otherwise
  • Enoxaparin: renally dosed — check the creatinine
  • Antidote: protamine sulfate
🎓 Patient teaching

Bleeding precautions: soft toothbrush, electric razor, report blood in urine/stool. SubQ injections go in the abdomen, don't rub the site.
